Pilot Training College of Ireland  PTC based in Waterford Airport Ireland

After many hours of form filling, medicals and money gathering it was time to start the Airline Pilot Training Program in Waterford P.T.C. Ireland.

The course is a full time modular training program costing 85K Euro and when complete should put me in a position to attend an interview for an airline commercial pilot post.

Prior to starting the pilot course I worked in Limerick for 12 years as an Electronic Design Engineer. I enjoyed working with electronics but in the later years I felt the electronics industry in Ireland was taking a turn for the worse so I decided to follow my dream of becoming a Ryanair airline pilot.

I've been following the Ryanair story since it started in 1985. It has revolutionised the airline industry in Europe and I am proud of the fact that it is  a home grown Irish company.

The following is a week by week account of my experience to date. Click on the relevant tabs on the left hand column for the diary. It is broken up into different stages for ease of reading. Forgive any grammar or spelling mistakes as parts of it were written while under pressure during periods of the course !

The Left Column is broken up into the different stages of training as follows:

  • Private Pilots License
  • Airline Transport Pilots License ATPL
  • Hours Building
  • Commercial Pilots License
  • Multi Engine Rating
  • Instrument Rating
  • Multi Crew Co operation
  • Interviews
